Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains which personal data Motech processes through this website, during orders, contact requests and use of the Motech App.

2. Which data we process
Depending on how you use Motech, the following data may be processed:
- name, address, shipping address and billing address
- email address and contact details
- order information, product variants and payment status
- shipping and delivery information
- messages you send by email, contact form or Instagram
- email address for Android beta sign-up
- technical data such as IP address, browser, device type, operating system, language settings, time of access and pages requested
- app-related technical information, as needed for connection, function, support or troubleshooting
Payment data such as full credit card numbers are not stored directly by Motech. Payments are processed via Stripe.
3. Purpose of processing
We process personal data for the following purposes:
- processing and fulfilment of orders
- shipping, delivery and customer service
- payment processing via Stripe
- answering requests and support cases
- sign-up and management of Android beta testers
- operation, security and improvement of the website
- provision and improvement of the Motech App
- technical error analysis
- compliance with legal obligations
- protection against abuse, fraud and unauthorised access
4. Legal bases
Where Swiss data protection law applies, we process personal data according to the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection.
Where the GDPR additionally applies, we base the processing case by case on:
- performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures
- legal obligations
- legitimate interests, for example secure operation, support, fraud prevention and website improvement
- consent, for example for optional sign-ups or voluntary contact details
5. Orders and payments via Stripe
For payments we use Stripe. The responsible entities are:
- Stripe Payments Europe Limited, 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, Ireland (for customers in the EEA and Switzerland)
- Stripe, Inc., 354 Oyster Point Boulevard, South San Francisco, CA 94080, USA (parent company)
When you pay, payment and transaction data is transmitted to Stripe. Stripe processes this data as a payment service provider.
Motech only receives information from Stripe that is needed for the order, for example payment status, amount, currency and transaction reference.
Full card data is not stored by Motech.
Depending on the payment method, additional payment providers may be involved, for example Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit card providers or other services shown during checkout.
A transfer of data to Stripe, Inc. in the USA may occur. Stripe, Inc. is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; additionally, Standard Contractual Clauses are used. Details: stripe.com/privacy.
6. Shipping providers
For shipping, name, address, email address, phone number and shipment data may be transmitted to shipping providers as needed for delivery.
Possible shipping providers include Swiss Post, DHL, UPS or other suitable carriers.
7. Hosting and technical log data
When visiting the website, the hosting provider processes technical access data.
This includes in particular IP address, time of access, browser information and requested files.
This data is needed to provide the website securely and reliably.
8. Cookies and technical storage
This website does not use its own analytics or marketing cookies.
For technical functions, necessary information may be processed depending on usage, for example for website security, transmission of an order or payment processing via Stripe.
When you start a payment, you will be redirected to Stripe for payment processing or Stripe payment features will be embedded. Stripe and the payment providers involved may use their own cookies or similar technologies as needed for payment processing, fraud prevention and security.
9. Embedded content from YouTube and Instagram
This website embeds videos from YouTube in the extended privacy mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. When playback starts, IP address and technical data may be transmitted to Google. Privacy information: policies.google.com/privacy.
Links to Instagram profiles are only loaded on click. Provider is Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland. Privacy information: privacycenter.instagram.com/policy.
10. App Store, Google Play and Android Beta
Links to the Apple App Store or to Google Play lead to external platforms. The respective platform operators are responsible for data processing there.
If you sign up for the Android beta, we use your email address to register you as a tester, send you installation information and contact you for beta-related questions.
11. Motech App
The Motech App is used to control and configure compatible Motech products.
Depending on device and operating system, the app requires permissions, for example Bluetooth permissions and on Android possibly location permissions.
These permissions are system-level requirements so Bluetooth devices can be found and connected.
The app can show and store device settings such as servo positions, speed, relay names or product status.
Such data is used to operate the products correctly and to provide the app's features.
12. Communication by email and Instagram
If you contact Motech by email or Instagram, we process the information you provide to handle your request.
Please do not send confidential data over insecure communication channels unless necessary.
13. Data sharing
Personal data is only shared when necessary for ordering, payment, delivery, website operation, support, legal obligations or legitimate interests.
Possible recipients are:
- payment service providers such as Stripe
- shipping providers
- hosting providers
- email service providers
- technical service providers
- platforms such as Apple, Google, YouTube or Instagram
- authorities, where a legal obligation exists
14. Data transfer abroad
Some service providers may process data outside of Switzerland, in particular in the EU or in the USA.
For transfers to the USA we rely, where applicable, on the European Commission's adequacy decision regarding the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), and additionally on the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) of the European Commission. For transfers from Switzerland, the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework applies accordingly.
14a. Fonts
This website uses the typefaces Space Grotesk and IBM Plex Mono. Both are delivered directly from the Motech server; no connection is made to Google Fonts or any other third-party CDN.
15. Storage period
We only store personal data for as long as needed for the respective purpose.
Order and accounting data may be stored longer due to statutory retention obligations.
Support and communication data is stored as long as needed for processing and traceability.
16. Your rights
Within the framework of applicable data protection law, you may request information about your personal data.
You may also request correction, deletion, restriction, transfer or object to certain processing, provided the legal requirements are met.

16a. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Independently of contacting Motech, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority.

In the EU / EEA: the data protection supervisory authority of your country of residence or of the place of the alleged infringement.
17. Security
Motech takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and manipulation.
Payments are encrypted via Stripe.
18. Changes
This privacy policy may be amended if services, legal requirements or technical processes change.
